| Why is a man that i have never known allowed to come into my house and stain the wood on the kitchen table, but I, the one who has bled, sweated, and teared up over the construction, maintenence, and asthetic come upance of my abode can not even suggest a color for a wall? I dont really have a beef, I just figured I should write something that somehow appeared to match the title. Life is good. Still enjoying the job. Meeting once a week with some of my cousins and my brother, just to hang out and keep each other up to date on where we are in life. Meeting each Thursday with one of my college proffessors and some other older gentlemen that I respect. The coffee and food is good, but the time spent is much more satisfying. Like the flavor of a divine cuisine to the pallate of the soul. Let's see, something political... I wonder sometimes how much of the core of a man can change over the years. McCains time in a POW camp speaks volumes to his character, but is it the same man? Obama will most likely not live through his first year in the white house, perhaps McCain either, so are we really voting for the V.P's? Frankly, of all the people in this great country, these four people are the best we can come up with? That runs the hairs up on my neck. Say what you will, but where are the Roosevelts, the Kennedys, the Lincolns? Maybe not great examples, but after a hundred years what will they be remembered for? And our past 4 and more presidents? We elect pushover's and manipulated marionet dolls that dance to tunes that oppress the people and confuse the masses. We are a people so wound up in trying to figure out the significance of $0.05 of gass prices and how the hell the tax law has changed each year that we can not cause our government to fear the retribution of its people. As it was said, "People should not fear their government, their government should fear the people." I am sure the day will come, when enough poor people get hungry enough, to not be afraid of the guns of the rich in control of the military. When that day, the day the poor and hungry unit, this country will tremble. I rue that day, I love this country, but I do not like the options this government gives its people. Be hungry now, or be hungry later. I should probably stay away from political discussions, they might lock me up :) Now back to the grind... Luth | | |
| One of my co-workers emailed this to me. ____________________________________________________________ 16 THINGS THAT IT TOOK ME OVER 50 YEARS TO LEARN:
by Dave Barry, Nationally Syndicated Columnist
1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be 'meetings.'
3. There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.'
4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.
5. You should not confuse your career with your life.
6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
7. Never lick a steak knife.
8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.
9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.
10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.
11.. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.
12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.
13. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to a waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)
14. Your friends love you anyway.
15. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.
16. Thought for the day: Men are like fine wine. They start out as grapes, and it's up to the women to stomp the crap out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
FINAL - AND BEST THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2030, there should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Have a great day! | To everyone who cares... I have a new phone but my SIM card didn't transfer everyone's numbers. Please send me a text with your name, or a message with your number and name so that I can update my new phone. Thanks, Luther | | |
| For those of you who are my friends and may not understand why I love the scouting program so much, here is text that is used in many Eagle Scout Ceremonies to let friends and family realize what their young man has accomplished. Eagle Scout, the highest award given to a member of the Boy Scouts. Feel free to ask questions. "Of any one hundred boys who become Scouts, it must be confessed that thirty will drop out in their first year. Perhaps this may be regarded as a failure, but in later life all of these will remember that they had been Scouts and will speak well of the program. Of the one hundred, only rarely will one ever appear before a juvenile court judge. Twelve of the one hundred will be from families that belong to no church. Through Scouting, these twelve and many of their families will be brought into contact with a church and will continue to be active all their lives. Six of the one hundred will enter the Clergy of his chosen faith. Each of the one hundred will learn something from Scouting. Almost all will develop hobbies that will add interest throughout the rest of their lives. Approximately one-half will serve in the military, and in varying degrees profit from their Scout training. At least one will use it to save another person’s life and many will credit it with saving their own. Four of the one hundred will reach Eagle rank, and at least one will later say that he valued his Eagle above his college degree. Many will find their future vocation through merit badge work and Scouting contacts. Seventeen of the one hundred boys will later become Scout leaders and will give leadership to thousands of additional boys. Only one in four boys in America will become Scouts, but it is interesting to know that of the leaders of this nation in business, religion and politics, three out of four were Scouts. This story will never end. Like the ‘Golden Pebble" of service dropped into the human sea, it will continue to radiate in ever-widening circles, influencing the characters of men down through unending time." | | |
